Tropical Storm Gabrielle weakened Wednesday night and was downgraded a second time to a tropical depression.
The storm was north of Bermuda Thursday morning, and forecasters expected it to move northwest throughout the day before turning toward the northeast and stay well away from North America.
Further east, the season's first hurricane, Humberto, remained far from land as well. The storm was expected Wednesday to keep moving north before turning Northwest.
In the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center was tracking an area of low pressure it gave a high probability of developing into a tropical cyclone before the end of the week.
