National Hurricane Center monitors system off St. Augustine

The National Hurricane Center was tracking an area of low pressure Monday morning with a 60 percent chance of tropical cyclone formation over the next two days.

The area was located about 210 miles east-southeast of St. Augustine at 2 a.m. Monday and was expected to move slowly southwestward, then north and northeastward as the week goes on.

According to the National Hurricane Center's website, an Air Force Reserve aircraft was scheduled to investigate the low pressure system Monday afternoon, if necessary.
