Tropical Storm Emily moving through Caribbean

Tropical Storm Emily formed Monday evening in the Caribbean Sea about 50 east of Dominica, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Emily was sporting winds of about 40 mph and was moving west at 17 miles an hour. At 7:30 p.m. Emily was about 350 miles southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect for Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Tropical storm watches were issued for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Haiti, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat and Antigua.
