Tropical Storm Humberto forms in east Atlantic

Tropical Storm Humberto has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and likely will become the first hurricane of the 2013 season.

Humberto was moving west at 12 mph with winds of 40 mph.

A tropical storm warning was discontinued for the southern Cape Verde Islands as Humberto moved away from that area.

The storm is expected to turn north late today or early Wednesday, when it encounters a huge low pressure system.

Forecasters expect the storm to strengthen and become a hurricane by Wednesday, taking a more westerly track.
