Morning brings dense fog advisory for Tampa Bay area

Dense fog covering Tampa Bay on Tuesday diminished visibility for drivers to about a quarter of a mile.

An advisory was in effect until 9 a.m. for Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties. Monday night's clear skies and light winds with temperatures in the upper 50s and a similar dew point created the heavy fog, said Juli Marquez, Bay News 9 meteorologist.

The fog should be an issue only during morning commutes, but warm air over the Gulf of Mexico could create sea fog, and southwest winds could push the fog to the coast, Marquez said.

After the morning, the rest of the day should be partly sunny with afternoons in the upper 70s to lower 80s. That warm weather should stay through the weekend.
