Near-record highs and sunny skies are ahead in weekend weather.
Friday's 79-degree high won't quite reach the area's record, but temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will creep closer to the mark, with a predicted high of 83, Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik said.
"Warmth is going to be the story," Kacmarik added.
Mornings will be foggy as the dew point remains high, she said, but that fog should clear off by afternoon, giving way to partly cloudy skies. Thunderstorms are possible Sunday night ahead of a cold front that will push through early next week.
Normal temperatures for this time of year would be in the mid 50s, Kacmarik said. Though there seemed to be little hope for those dreaming of a white Christmas, Kacmarik said temperatures will likely fall back toward that normal range by the holiday.
