Rain could be frequent and plentiful today

A flood watch has been issued for Levy and Citrus counties and rain bands will be pushing south within a few hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Hernando and northern Pasco counties are being advised of urban and small stream flooding as the rain moves slowly into northern Hillsborough County.

It'll be another warm and wet day, with temperatures rising to 88 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, and rain chances at 70 percent. The combination of steam and heat will raise the heat index to 97 degrees.

Up to three quarters of an inch of rain could fall during localized heavy storms.

Precipitation chances will remain as high as 40 percent through 11 p.m, with another half inch possible tonight.
