"Everyone has a chance of getting the showers and the thunderstorms today," said Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.
An 80 percent chance of rain was forecast for Monday. Heavy thunderstorms were expected to roll into the bay area by the afternoon and continue into the early evening before quieting down Monday night, Marquez said.
Gusty winds and cloud-to-ground lightning were forecast for Monday, National Weather Service experts said.
In Pasco, minor flooding was reported at Cypress Creek at Worthington Gardens, the weather service said, but water levels were expected to decline through the week.
Tampa Bay's forecast for Tuesday included a 40 percent chance of rain, with chances decreasing later in the week.
