Rains bring street flooding to South Tampa

TAMPA — Rains Thursday night over western Hillsborough County led to a flood advisory and some waterlogged cars.

The storm cell, which moved over MacDill Air Force Base, caused some street flooding in those areas of South Tampa that have proven most vulnerable to downpours time and again — such as intersections on parts of S Dale Mabry Highway and Henderson Boulevard.

But Tampa police said they did not close streets because of it.

Yet more rain is expected.

Bay News 9 meteorologists are forecasting a 50 percent chance of rain Friday, and a 60 percent chance Saturday.
