New round of storms knocks down trees
With the Tampa Bay area still dealing with the effects of Tropical Storm Debby, a fresh round of heavy storms added to the damage Saturday in western Hernando County.
Sheriff's officials stressed that Saturday's storm damage was nowhere as severe as that left behind by Debby, but there were several significant incidents.
In the gated Pristine Place neighborhood, winds knocked down 10 trees. Not far away, on Allwood Street, a lightning strike downed a tree, which landed on a house. On Elston Street, east of Eileen Avenue, authorities put barricades around a depression that had formed in the ground.
None of the damage resulted in injuries, officials said.
