An onshore breeze forced a smattering of showers and thunderstorms over some parts of the Tampa Bay area early Friday, forecasters said.
Rain chances for the day shot up to 40 percent, with a high temperature expected around 92 degrees.
"The onshore wind will be with us today and throughout the weekend," Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez said.
Some clouds were expected to remain throughout the day with plenty of sunshine until evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures were forecast to stay relatively warm over the weekend, with mild winds for recreational boaters, Marquez said, although she warned of choppy conditions near any isolated thunderstorms.
