A thunderous storm whipped through Tampa Bay on Monday evening, flooding streets and pelting cars and homes with hail the size of quarters in some areas.

By 7 p.m., the worst of the storm was over with no reports of storm damage, said 10Weather WTSP meteorologist Ric Kearbey.

Hail rained down on parts of Manatee, Hillsborough and Pasco counties, Kearbey said. Radar also indicated winds that exceeded 60 mph.

A flood advisory remained in effect late Monday in parts of Pasco and Hernando counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasts show that today will begin dry, but "as we heat things up, we'll see some storms develop once again," Kearbey said.
