Much of west central Florida is expected to see heavy thunderstorms and lightning Monday as warm, moist air moves in from the Gulf of Mexico.
"We have a 70 percent chance of rain today for most of the area,'' said Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.
Much of the coastal Tampa Bay area had heavy storms early Monday, with some areas reporting up to a half inch of rain.
The storms, moving northeasterly, are expected to continue through the morning and early afternoon.
High temperatures today are expected to reach the mid 80s.
