Tornado warning canceled in Hillsborough County

The National Weather Service in Ruskin issued a tornado warning at 2:23 p.m. Friday for western Hillsborough County. The warning was cancelled about 2:40 p.m.

The warning was issued when agency meteorologists detected a waterspout 7 miles southwest of MacDill Air Force Base moving northeast at 55 mph.

A severe thunderstorm watch remained in effect for all of southwestern Florida until 8 p.m.
