Tropical Storm Gabrielle forms south of Puerto Rico

Tropical Storm Gabrielle formed just south of Puerto Rico late Wednesday, bringing heavy rain to parts of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The system was initially projected to remain well off the coast of Florida. But another tropical wave trailing the storm could affect its path and added uncertainty to the forecast. National Hurricane Center Forecasters gave Gabrielle little chance of strengthening into the season's first hurricane.
