Tampa Bay Weather

Warm and breezy afternoon should continue into the weekend; Sunday showers possible

10Weather WTSP meteorologist Kate Wentzel said Friday morning that warm temperatures should continue through the afternoon into Saturday, with some rain possible by Sunday.

The first day of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg should see nice weather, with partly cloudy skies throughought Friday — with plenty of high clouds to filter the sun. Winds were forecast to be southeasterly from 15-20 mph, with a few higher gusts possible.

By late Friday night into Saturday a disturbance moving across the southeastern United States could bring some isolated showers. Wentzel predicted a 10 percent chance of rain Saturday.

"On Sunday, 1 p.m to 6 p.m. could be the window where we see some scattered showers and storms," Wentzel said. "However, it won't be a washout." If you have plans for the weekend, whether Grand Prix-related or otherwise, she saw no reason to change them as the overall forecast looked "pretty fantastic."
