Waterspout reported near Gandy Bridge

TAMPA — A waterspout formed near the Gandy Bridge on Wednesday afternoon as a storm rolled into Tampa Bay.

The waterspout was reported about 12:30 p.m. and dissipated about 1 p.m., said Bay News 9 meteorologist Mike Clay.

"It was just a tiny, little storm right over the bay," Clay said.

The thunderstorm, which was weakening when the waterspout appeared, was moving into South Tampa. Waterspouts, Clay added, typically form between 10 a.m. and noon.

A 40 percent chance of rain for the Tampa Bay area was expected for today.
