Tampa Bay residents were hit with a wet commute Friday morning as a line of thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
Much of the region saw between a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain early Friday.
The rain should continue through mid morning as a cold-front passes through the region and brings slightly cooler temperatures, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez. Temperatures are expected to peak at 75 degrees.
"We're saying goodbye to the 80s," said Marquez.
The soggy conditions should be long gone by Saturday's Gasparilla pirate festival in Tampa. The forecast calls for no rain, partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s, according to Bay News 9.
