WHO NEEDS A SLEIGH?

More than 160 decorated carts came out to participate in last week's Sun City Center Holiday Golf Cart Parade. Add in 40 vendors, 23 sponsors and a vintage car show, and it's easy to see why the event defined fun for the community.

With the theme "Tis the Sea-Sun," participants fashioned their carts after marine themes and fun in the sun.

Minto Communities, a Florida homebuilder, spiced up the day by donating $5,000 in prize money. Awards went to the top selections in four categories: individuals, clubs, service organizations, and business and homeowner associations.

Ron Rigenback's creation was named best in show.

"Not only is it great, but as an engineer, I can't wait until next year because I'm going to do it even better," Rigenback said. "Definitely animated, and colorful and maybe lights as well."

County Commissioners Ken Hagan and Al Higginbothom made an appearance and Sun City Center resident Anne Marie Leblanc served as grand marshal.

Winners included Best Business, Freedom Plaza (no cash prize); Best Club, Irish Ticker Wagon; Best Service Organization, United Methodist Church of Sun City Center; Best Home Owner Association, Port Smith Association; Best Individual and Best In Show, Ron and Linda Rigenback's USS Sea Sun Dolphin.
