McCain's scare tactics

The oldest candidate in the race for president should be the last to prey on older voters with deceptive mailings. Yet John McCain's name is on a mailing sent to older Democrats in at least five Florida counties that claims they are registered as Republicans — and asks for campaign contributions. This mailing, paid for by the Republican National Committee, makes use of some of the sleaziest campaign tactics. It apparently uses incorrect or fraudulent voter identification numbers, and it arrives on official-looking forms titled "voter registration tracking forms.'' One of its devious aims appears to be to build lists to challenge the eligibility of legitimate voters. Such an effort to confuse older voters is contemptible, and McCain should denounce it.

When I saw this I immediately went online to see what important news this made-up scandal was covering up for. The hand-in-glove relationship between one political party and he press corps is starkly clear. Big media's a brothel. A pox on your bits.

McCain is a piker when it comes to these things. Democrats are pro's, like R.M. Nixon said before emulating their tactics. This whole thing is a Democrat double deception. And their skill at this is undeniable. It helps they control the newspapers.

If he was a Democrat doing this you would be calling him a "he-coon".
by Steve Sep 18, 2008 5:05 PM
John McCain dishonors himself, his fellow senior citizens, voters and the country as a whole. It's a sad sight to see him morph into Bush and Rove.
by Gary Sep 18, 2008 5:03 PM
Good job SPT. In 1994, you exposed the Dems for scaring seniors about Lt. Gov. candidate Tom Feeney's Social Security position; this is the same type of sleezy tactics.
by John Sep 18, 2008 3:27 PM
Alright, stop! Jesus was a Democrat. I know this as fact. I just talked to his Dad about it. (Dad is a Dem as well.) Hey, prove me wrong.
by Trakkerorl Sep 18, 2008 3:27 PM
It's not strange that the focus of both political parties lies in deception, blatent lies, character assassination, scare and blame as opposed to open, honest debates as a strategy to win. What's strange is embracing religion while doing it.

I will be absolutely ashamed if the McCain/Palin regime gets elected. We need someone with integrity, not McShame.
by Dana Sep 18, 2008 3:27 PM
Let us remember this is the Party that brought us Richard Nixon and Watergate.
by Dick Sep 18, 2008 3:27 PM
Of course all democrats are model Christians. All we need to do is look at Senator Biden's generous charitable contributions. I forgot, Senator Biden is very charitable with taxpayer money.
by Bob Sep 18, 2008 3:27 PM
Perhaps these folks at one time WERE Republican but switched over. No one forces ANYONE to donate money to a campaign or anything else for that matter. Case closed. By the way, who wrote this piece of scare tactic?
by Paul Sep 18, 2008 3:26 PM
You expected anything less from the GOP? They don't have any answers, so they lie and try to undermine the democratic process because they know their candidates have nothing to offer.
by Harold Sep 18, 2008 9:10 AM
I have found that true Christians rarely need to proclaim it and just live their lives the best that they can. The Christians that you hear about are usually the least Christian people that you will ever find. If you are not the same you are evil.

mccain+ bush= mcbush, we are all tired of this crap
by Scott Sep 18, 2008 9:10 AM
Who broke this maverick? He is now an owned man.
by geezer Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
Tee, there's no need for the name calling no matter what side you're on. As an Obama supporter I think that's disgusting also. Grow up! As for the republican tactics in this article..I am not surprised. Shameful.
by Wolf Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
Sorry Tee, but Christians don't care about anyone but themselves. Only realists and democrats are held accountable for their actions. As for Palin/McCain, wasn't one of them a POW? Jesus likes POW's!
by Abbi Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
Well Tee, aren't you a saint!!Take the plank out of your own eye so you can see better!!Educate yourself to find out that the other candidate is okay with murdering babies by okaying late term abortions. BTW, voting present is the same as voting yes.
by Ted Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
McCain needs an good ol' fashion spankin'! His mom's still around, looks like she missed one of those valuable life lessons about honor and integrity, for shame!
by jimmy Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
Tee: Catch your breath! Politics is a contact sport. Take a look at the Democrat pigs who are getting fat at the public trough with their mortgage bailouts and community reinvestments. Don't forget about glass houses.
by Arnold Sep 18, 2008 9:09 AM
Lame. Unworthy of a real response, so I won't give it one.
by Tee Sep 17, 2008 7:18 PM
This is a disgusting tactic by the highly underhanded McCain/Palin campaign. I hope all the conservative Christians take note. Thou shalt not lie. It seems like the old man and his sidekick pig are especially good at that.
