Medal of valor is undeserved
Awarding two police officers with a medal of valor says something about a warped sense of courage.
If the officers had disarmed the naked, mentally disabled woman, it would have been part of the job, but by shooting and killing her this event has been elevated to heroism.
Awards are always skeptical to me and this one belongs near the top.

Woman needed to be evaluated
It's not normal for a woman to walk around her neighborhood naked, lie down in the street, growl, tell strangers she loves them, say she's going to kill them, leave and come back still naked.
No law enforcement training is necessary to know that walking around in the buff with a firearm is not sane behavior. And fatally shooting a deranged person is not a heroic act.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis should be educating deputies rather than rewarding their ignorance. A medal of valor for killing someone who obviously needed help? What's next? Pay raises for beating up Baker Act patients?
