Arlene Glantz
Hernando County Commission, District 1
I propose diversifying our economic base by attracting new types of industries, new technologies. I have been working on plans along with the county to retrain our unemployed workforce with the skills new technology requires.
I favor incentives to attract new types of businesses and helping existing businesses grow and expand by revamping the county's permitting process.
I propose greater oversight when drafting county contracts to avoid overruns and delays.
I favor the property tax rollback and favor impact fees for certain new construction.
I propose generating substantial revenue by regulating simulated gambling and corporate sponsorships for our parks and libraries. Many counties are currently successfully regulating simulated gambling and generating annual revenue streams.
I never stated that my proposed revenue generating plans would totally fill the budget deficit — just reduce the anticipated shortfall.
I am the only candidate who has been actively working on solutions to county problems.
