Letters To The Editor

Candidate response: U.S. House District 13

Editor's note: Candidates in the Jan. 14 Republican special primary for U.S. House District 13 not recommended by the Tampa Bay Times were given an opportunity to respond.

David Jolly

Having reviewed the Tampa Bay Times editorial board's past recommendations of Democratic candidates Barack Obama and Alex Sink, I understand the paper's recommendation of my opponent in the race for Congressional District 13. Their support of my opponent in the Republican primary is consistent with the editorial board's past expressed ideology.

In response to this recommendation, I would like to affirm the editorial board writers' perfectly accurate assessment of my political philosophy and convictions. I oppose higher taxes. I oppose more deficit spending. I believe we should repeal Obamacare. I support protecting promises made to our seniors and our veterans. I believe in the sanctity of life. And I am proud of my understanding of federal issues based on my work alongside our late Congressman Bill Young.
