A bad plan for Mansfield Blvd.
Here we go again. Pasco County commissioners are revisiting connecting Mansfield Boulevard in Meadow Point to Hillsborough County.
It is a bad idea for a number of reasons. It's a two-lane road that cannot be widened to four lanes. There are existing schools along Mansfield: John Long Middle, Wiregrass High, Pasco-Hernando Community College being built now and a proposed future elementary school.
Since most of Mansfield Boulevard has a 30-mph speed limit, there would be a huge traffic bottleneck which would cause potential safety hazards for children crossing the road.
Pasco previously rejected the idea of connecting the roads. It's time Pasco County commissioners bury this idea forever. Time for them to think of the people of Pasco County who voted for them to represent us, not Hillsborough County.
Meadow Point Boulevard is the only solution to get to SR 56 from Hillsborough County. It can be widened, if necessary, and there are no schools on the stretch between Hillsborough and SR 56.
