Largo candidate Mary Gray Black responds

Editor's note: Mary Gray Black, a candidate for Largo City Commission in the Nov. 4 election, submitted the following letter in response to the St. Petersburg Times' editorial recommendation of her opponent, Joseph Falanga. Mary Gray Black

I am a candidate for re-election to the Largo City Commission because I love Largo and care for the city and its people.

Largo has grown through the years — the city limits have stretched and the population has increased. However, the issues are the same: maintain a high quality of life for residents, manage spending carefully while investing in the future, maintain the city's infrastructure, control crime, provide for the best use of one's property, control traffic and provide for the health, safety and general well-being of the residents.

When elected, I will continue to bring honesty, integrity, knowledge, wisdom, experience, leadership and dedication to the City Commission. I will continue to make every effort to provide the same high quality of municipal service to the residents and property owners without overtaxing. I will continue to work with the administration to ensure residents receive prompt service and courteous treatment. I will continue to uphold the traditional family and community standards valued by the majority of residents. I will continue to work to ensure property owners' fair and equitable use of their property while encouraging sensitivity to the environment and city appearance. And I will continue to uphold the city charter and the laws of Florida.

On Nov. 4, Largo residents should vote for the individual who best represents their views and their values. Mary Gray Black is the only experienced candidate with a proven track record.
