Brooksville vs. Paris for tourists
A writer suggested that the construction of a skate park, roller rink, bicycle path, running track, and public park would "put Brooksville on the map as a premier tourist attraction." I wonder how many real tourists (e.g., those living in Topeka, Butte, Atlanta, London and such) would travel to Brooksville to avail themselves of such attractions.
Probably, they'd rather take tours to other tourist destinations, such as Paris, San Francisco, and Venice. Yep, let's spend more taxpayer money on worthless projects that place our governments deeper in debt.

Winding Waters second-graders share Thanksgiving essays | Nov. 22 article
Thank you for supporting us
This is a sincere thank you to the Hernando Times for coverage of my second-grade students during our annual Thanksgiving dessert and to Paulette Lash Ritchie for the superb article and photo. I appreciate her professionalism, gentle manner and patience with my students and with me, too.
Her article truly captures the purpose of the writing lesson. Yes, the children did know the difference between wants and needs right before the holiday season. Ms. Ritchie was also able to see the looks on the faces of the families as their child read what they were thankful for.
Thank you for letting my stars share just a bit of their excitement with you and for presenting it to the community in such a tremendous way!
