LUTZ — An Orlando-based ale house is proposing to serve up brews in the Cypress Creek Town Center in central Pasco.

Miller's Ale House, which has 95 locations in 13 states, plans to locate on the southwest corner of State Road 54 and Wesley Chapel Boulevard. The sports-themed bar and restaurant also has locations in Brandon, the former University Mall now known as Uptown, and on Columbus Avenue in Tampa.

The chain is proposing a 239-seat restaurant within a 7,202-square-foot building on property owned by the Sierra family's Pasco Ranch Inc., according to preliminary plans filed with Pasco County. The submittal from Boehler Engineering also includes a proposed 15,000-square-foot medical office for St. Luke's, the orthopedic practice founded by Dr. James Gills. The medical offices would be just west of the restaurant, according to a conceptual map filed with the county.

Miller's Ale House began 31 years ago in Jupiter on Florida's east coast. The chain is owned by the private equity firm Roark Capital Group, which also owns Arby's, Moe's Southwest Grill, Auntie Ann's and Cinnabon, among others.

Miller's Ale House boasts of serving 75 varieties of beer, as well as a menu that includes steaks, pasta, sandwiches and chicken "zingers'' in 16 sauces.

It would join a still-growing restaurant row that features two dozen open or planned restaurants within the Cypress Creek Town Center retail hub that includes the Tampa Premier Outlets mall, Costco and At Home, all south of State Road 56, and Hobby Lobby, Earth Fare and Burlington Coat Factory on the north side of the highway, near the Interstate 75 interchange.

The eating options along the two sides of the road include quick-serve restaurants, such as McDonald's and Taco Bell, and fast-casual restaurants like Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen, Bahama Breeze, Ford's Garage and Chuy's Tex-Mex. Still under construction is Walk-On's, another sports-themed bar/restaurant that began in Louisiana.

Rock & Brews, founded by members of the rock group KISS, is planned as well. Bloomin' Brands has proposed a trio of restaurants — Aussie Grill by Outback, Bonefish Grill and Carrabba's Italian Grill — for the northeast corner of SR 56 and Wesley Chapel Boulevard.

The site for Miller's Ale House is the western-most edge of the Cypress Creek Town Center development. It's currently an empty lot marked by a for-lease sign, It is directly across Wesley Chapel Boulevard from a planned Aldi grocery store and is catty-corner from the proposed site of the three Bloom' Brands restaurants.
