The Blue Angels are scheduled to appear at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and the Air Force is bringing its F-22 and A-10 demonstration teams as well. The show will feature parachute jumps from the Navy Leap Frogs. Private pilots will show off their vintage and high-performance aircraft, including the Geico Skytypers flying SNJ-2s, Randy Ball flying a MiG-17F and the Goodyear Blimp.
The gates open at 8 a.m., but with an estimated 150,000 people expected to show up, lines start forming as early at 6. Bring water bottles and look for the many water fillup stations available because it gets pretty hot out on the flight line. Hillsborough Area Regional Transit will run special routes to the base every 15 minutes from Britton Plaza, 3944 S Dale Mabry Highway. HART will also run service every hour from the Westfield Brandon Mall to Marion Transit Center. AirFest runs 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. each day at MacDill Airforce Base, 8208 Hangar Loop Drive, Tampa.
