2012 Memorial Day Celebration at Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery

The 2012 Memorial Day Program will get underway at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26th at Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery.

 

2012 Memorial Day Celebration at Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery

 

The 2012 Memorial Day Program will get underway at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26th at Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery. Mr. John DeBok, incoming Commander 9236 VFW and incoming Sr. Vice Commander District 21 VFW, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Major General M.T. Smith will be the Guest Speaker and the theme of the event is “Welcome Home, All Troops.”

In observance of Memorial Day, all veterans’ graves at Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery in New Port Richey will be decorated by NJROTC students of Gulf High School and Mitchell High School. Patriotic music selections will be provided by Ms. Laurie and Kasey Rea and the Egypt Shrine Highlander’s Pipe and Drum Band. Also participating will be members of joint veterans’ organizations and North Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery personnel.

The presentation of colors will follow under the direction of Mr. John DeBok, Master of Ceremonies; Mr. Marty Voorhies, Sergeant at Arms and Mr. Bill Wagner, Parade Marshall. Also joining in the ceremonies will be veterans, civic and fraternal organizations.

The Memorial Flags are donated to Meadowlawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery by families of veterans.

Gold Star families will place memorial wreaths with assistance from local and state dignitaries in attendance.

Ceremonies will close with the retirement of colors.
