May 29, 2012
AMA Fitness Center launched its 2
nd annual "Lose Weight… Clothe a Kid" charity weight loss competition on January 23, 2012. Contest participants each paid a $50 tax deductible entrance fee and additional contributions were made during the contest based on weight loss or gain. On May 25th, 100% of the funds raised were donated to Clothes To Kids, a nonprofit organization providing clothing to low -income school-age children in Pinellas County. A ceremonial check was presented to Jennifer Jacobs, Clothes to Kids Development Director. "We are so grateful to our client’s for their support of such a worthy cause. The $4,000 raised translates into 80 wardrobes for under-privileged children" said AMA Fitness Center president Joe Altamura. "Our client’s really stepped-up, we were able to raise $1,000 more than last year’s donation." The
Lose Weight… Clothe a Kid contest winner lost 24.2 lbs. or 11.75% of body weight during the competition’s 12 week duration through an AMA designed program of nutrition and exercise.
