Opening Day is October 3rd, 2010. Every Sunday from 10 AM until 2 PM on Historic Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach, the street is full of local vendors selling fine art, handmade crafts, fresh produce and seafood, gourmet foods, as well as beautiful plants and flowers. This European style fresh market is hosted by the Suntan Art Center and features many artists and artisans from the community. Live music spotlights some of our best local musicians. Charlie Morris will perform on opening day bringing the blues to the street.
Fresh produce is available from Jason Kilpatrick’s stand and local favorite St. Pete Beach Produce. Check with Mr. I Got ‘Em in his tuxedo for BBQ, ribs, sausages and other grilled favorites. Fresh seafood is provided by Gator’s Seafood and domestic and imported cheeses are available at the Cheese Lodge. Other foods that are available include Greek specialties, pirogies, local honey, coffees and teas. To satisfy the sweet tooth, enjoy The Angry Squirrel’s nutty confections and traditional Italian Ice.
Each week, more than twenty artisan vendors display their fine art. Check out the handmade Adirondack chairs created by Markus Lehtovirta, salvaged metal sculptures by Mike Ewashenko, and fine silver jewelry by Lesley Tinnaro. Beautiful glass creations, fiber art, and pottery all made locally by Suntan Art Center members line the street. Handmade jewelry abounds. Artists create wearable art jewelry with silver, glass, aluminum, wood, semi-precious stones and pearls, even recycled watch parts.
The Sunday market on Corey Avenue is a celebration of the community of St. Pete Beach. Shops are open and restaurants provide a wide choice of breakfast, brunch and luncheon options. Start your morning off with a mimosa and cap it off with a movie matinee at the Beach Theater. Relax and enjoy your day while you support your community.
