It’s Ironic: Dartmouth Graduate, Quarterback, and Current Stetson Law Student Wins Ocean Conservancy Photo Contest
In an ironic twist, what almost killed him became his tool of art that won him a prize. Stetson Law School student and Dartmouth graduate Conner Kempe won the 2013 Ocean Conservancy people’s choice award for best photo with a picture of a kiteboarder off a beach in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2006, top rated Florida quarterback Conner Kempe was air lifted to a regional trauma unit where he was given his last rights as a result of a kiteboarding accident. The incident brought national news coverage and discussion on improving the safety of kiteboarders. Conner’s picture Edge-N’-Pop garnered the most votes in the contest and brought Conner Kempe the people’s choice award. http://www.facebook.com/oceanconservancy#!/photo.php?fbid=10151743060714027&set=a.159237629026.151648.102592959026&type=1&theater
