Tampa, Florida, – There is a fear that beach goers might be lulled in passivity now that the oil slicks from Louisiana’s Oil Rig disaster appears to be behind us. The fact is it is not. Environmentally sensitive Members of the Surfrider Foundation have combined to send a message to all their Members worldwide that “it’s not over till it’s over”
A young St. Pete film entrepreneur together with leading Surfrider Foundation Suncoast Chapter Chairman Thomas Paterek, are sponsoring and producing an awareness video to solicit public support for the fight against off shore drilling. Daniel Jones, of Daniel Jones Productions, is making a movie for the ‘surfrider foundation’ website (www.surfrider.org) and its very popular blog, http://oilonthebeach.blogspot.com/. Daniel recruited world class professional surfers, and friends, Cory and Shea Lopez to co-sponsor, and cameo in the production.
Cory and Shea, who have both surfed many years on the World Championship Tour, were raised on the Gulf coast of Florida. Although they both spend most of their time traveling the world and earn extremely well from surf competitions and sponsorships, they care about the shores that gave them their start in life. They care that beach goers will raise flags when they find any oil-based sea and sand hazards. They want people to really take the time to decide if unbridled off-shore drilling for oil really makes sense.
Danny Jones, a well known video producer himself, has directed, shot and produced a mini-horror movie highlighting the ‘oil slick monster’ and its threat to the ecology and quality of life of Floridians, especially young Floridians, who so love life on our beautiful beaches. The video premieres on surfrider sites on the last week of August, 2010.
Rob Cowie, Producer of the famed “The Blair Witch Project” and other horror genre movies, and an avid environmentalist himself, is enthusiastic about Danny’s latest creation. “Nothing is more horrible than standing by and doing nothing while people to harm our environment and heritage.” As a student and since then, Cowie has contracted Danny for creative production work on a number of occasions.
Danny is known for his tremendous versatility. From his creative surfrider production, to under-the-water, in-the-water and from sports fishing vessels, Danny has a reputation for creating excellent videos that express his love of the sea. He has produced videos for owners and captains of Sport Fishing Vessels who competed in the ESPN2, Catch-and-Release Series, “The BXRL,” or Billfishing Extreme Release League. The popular Belleair, Florida sea food restaurant, “Marlin Darlin Grill’,” has featured these.
Danny is a successful young, independent businessman, known locally for the excellence of his corporate productions including commercials, product promotions, and corporate training videos. As a young SEO-proficient, web marketing video producer, he helps many Florida and national businesses optimize their successful use of digital media in-house and via the web, like: Amano; duPont Publishing; Baystar Restaurant Group; Jacobsen Homes; Galati Yachts; and many others.
Danny, aged 22, still enjoys college humor. His website, www.DanielJonesMovies.com, Hosts some of his comedy sketches and music videos which have become well known among the college set for its totally zany, in-your-face, obnoxious humor. More Extracts of Danny’s work can also be seen on his YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/DanielJonesMovies.
When asked what his dream is, Danny replied: “My head is always bursting with creative visions of short movies and music videos that appeal to my generation. There is a limit to what I can do with my current resources. I would like to meet and work with top movie and music video producers and get the opportunity to feature top musical artists in stunning new ways that will blow the minds of our generation!”
