Paint the PARC

St. Petersburg, FL, October 30, 2012: Volunteers are needed to help paint the PARC Thrift  Store on Saturday, November 10. They will join members from three local churches to paint both the interior and exterior, reorganize shelves, and cut and trim hedges and plantings at the store located in St. Petersburg at 5825 66th Street North. Although people will be working from 8 am on, volunteers, both youth and adults, are welcome any time during the day for any length of service.  Students in need of volunteer hours for Bright Futures Scholarships are especially encouraged to participate. Lunch will be provided.

PARC has, since 1953, provided opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities to exercise their independence and experience life to the fullest. Cutbacks in governmental funding have made it challenging, however, for PARC, and similar organizations, to cover the costs of major repairs. Maintenance of the store, a major source of funding for the organization, is essential. The three local churches, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, St. Petersburg, and the St. Petersburg Ward and Gulfport Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,  will provide much of the labor on the 10th. Contributions from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thrivent Financial  for Lutherans and concerned individuals are covering much of the costs for paint and supplies. Additional donations for this project are needed and appreciated, however.

PARC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
