Fun adults wanted for Sunday night league at the Land O’ Lakes Rec Center
January 15, 2013 – Tampa, FL – The slogan on their shirt says it all; Kick, Run, Mingle, Score. Kickball Society of Tampa Bay (KBS) is bringing its brand of adult fun to the Land O’ Lakes Rec Center with an eight week season plus tourney that starts Sunday, January 27th. But you'll need to act fast to play - registration closes this Sunday, January 20. Individuals, small groups and full teams ages 21+ are invited to join. Games are held Sunday nights at 6 pm and 7 pm, with the exception of Super Bowl Sunday and Valentine’s Day.
Kickball's the main event, but the fun continues after the games, as players gather at the league bar to compete in flip cup, beer pong, karaoke and other social events where players mingle and toast the thrill of victory. The social emphasis is the main reason why many Kickball Society members have played continuously since their first league launched in Carrollwood in 2009. "My husband and I joined probably about three years ago. It was something we wanted to do, to get a bunch of friends out here, to get away from stress from work, go out, mingle and make some friends," said KBS veteran Marie Restrepo.
In addition to Carrollwood, KBS has operated leagues in Temple Terrace, Lutz, and now Land O' Lakes. Co-founders Wayne and Rosemary Curtiss are excited about expanding to Pasco County. "Just like in the other communities where KBS plays, we think we'll attract fun adults who work hard and like to play hard, too. Kickball Society helps them fight the demons of adulthood one game at a time," said Wayne. Rosemary added, "Since 2009 our members from Pasco County have traveled to Carrollwood, Temple Terrace and Lutz to play kickball with us. We're finally able to offer them a league that's closer to home."
