TAMPA BAY – Continuing to grow readers and subscribers, the Tampa Bay Times is expanding its reach into east Hillsborough County.
Starting June 15, the Times will mail the Plant City Times, a regional section that will focus on local news, to about 10,000 residents on Fridays.
As part of the expansion, the Tampa Bay Times also will be available 7 days a week in newspaper racks and retail locations; the Plant City Times will be included in those copies on Fridays.
“For several years, we have heard from Plant City residents and businesses who wanted to pick up a copy the Times regularly. Now, they will be able to every day,” said Joe DeLuca, Tampa publisher of the Tampa Bay Times.
The Times has hired a news reporter, Rich Shopes, and an advertising executive, Joanna Verga, to focus exclusively on the readers and businesses in Plant City.
The expansion comes on the heels of recent reports about the Times’ circulation growth, especially in Hillsborough and Central Pasco counties, continuing an established trend.
