Tampa Military Officer Honored at U.S. Capitol
Representative Kathy Castor presented Marine Corps Reserve Col Eduardo Jany with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal
Representative Kathy Castor recently received Marine Corps Reserve Col Eduardo Jany and his family at the U.S. Capitol. As part of his visit Jany was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal by Rep. Castor in recognition of his service as Commanding Officer of Anti-Terrorism Battalion, 4th Marine Division. Jany met with and briefed selected Members of Congress as well as members of Senator Marco Rubio's Staff as part of the National Defense University National Security Program. He is a former Police Commander and veteran of the Army Special Forces and the Marine Corps and is a Reserve Officer with the Tampa Police Department. Eduardo is a first generation immigrant from Brazil who began his career as an enlisted soldier in the Army and has since commanded military and police organizations and was a 2013 Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University. He is currently directing advisory operations for public safety agencies in Brazil in preparation of the World Cup and Olympics for Mutualink, Inc. His wife Luciana is a breast cancer survivor who recently received her U.S. citizenship. They reside in South Tampa.
