Trinity Cafe Marks 11 Years of Serving the Community
A $200,000 matching grant has been made available to fund its new building construction
Tampa. – (October 15, 2012) –Trinity Cafe, (http://www.trinitycafe.org) a free restaurant that unconditionally serves Tampa’s homeless, hungry and working poor marks its 11th anniversary on Oct. 15. More than 822,000 meals have been served to guests who have fallen on hard times. The homeless population has more than tripled since the café’s opening 11 years ago. Thousands of community volunteers serve meals and offer hope and encouragement to this vulnerable segment of our society.
Trinity Cafe is renovating a building that will serve as its new, permanent location. Once completed, it will allow for program expansion, enabling Trinity Cafe to feed more hungry people. To help raise the final construction costs, a local family foundation has offered a $200,000 matching grant opportunity during the anniversary month.
“We are blessed by the generosity and charitable heart of this donor,” says Jeffrey Darrey, a founding director. “We are hopeful others will invest in the future of our neighbors in need by contributing to this matching grant building fund.”
You, too, can help those in need in our community by making a donation of any size to be matched for the completion of Trinity Cafe’s new building. Donations can be made via Trinity Cafe’s website, http://tinyurl.com/trinitydonation or via mail at PO Box 320146, Tampa, FL 33679. To celebrate their anniversary week, guests and volunteers will be served cakes generously donated by Sweetbay Supermarket.
