Trinity Cafe Receives Grant from Community Foundation of Tampa Bay

Funds will purchase holiday food for the homeless and hungry

TAMPA, Fla. – (December 7, 2012) – Community Foundation of Tampa Bay ( has awarded a $7,500 grant to Trinity Cafe ( for the purchase of food to feed the homeless and hungry during the holiday season. Funds were awarded from its Community Impact Fund to Trinity Cafe and three other food providers. “Thank you for what you do to improve the quality of life in the Tampa Bay area,” says Marlene Spalten, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay. 

“During this season of giving we have been blessed with this generous grant to feed more than 200 guests who eat here daily,” says Cindy Davis, Trinity Cafe program director.  “We are grateful to the Community Foundation for their concern and action in helping the needy in our community. No one should want for food.”

About Trinity Cafe: Trinity Cafe (, a 501 (c) (3) non-denominational charity feeds the homeless, hungry and working poor in Tampa, Since 2001, more than 830,000 restaurant quality meals have been served to people in need. Executive Chef Alfred Astl prepares more than 200 meals each day, Monday-Friday, 52 weeks a year. Trinity Cafe’s mission is to restore a sense of dignity to the hungry and homeless by serving a nutritious meal while nurturing spirits through acts of acceptance, compassion, love and respect.
