Members of the Tutterow Stars of Tomorrow Performance Company traveled to Europe this past July for an 11day tour. Dancers ages 7-25 performed at Euro Disney in Paris France, at the Horticultural Show in Bamberg Germany and for the Us Troops and their families stationed in Grafenworhr Germany. Each performance had very large audiences with at least 700-800 people.
Sight seeing in France included the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, Palace of Versailles, Sacre Coeur Cathedral, The Arc de Triomphe, and of course some shopping.
From France the group traveled by bus to Germany with stops in Heidelberg, Bamberg, Grafenwohr, Munich, and Rothenberg ob de Tauber. While in Munich the dancers participated in a contemporary workshop with choreographer Kenneth Flak from Norway and watch a performance in the evening called “Etudes for an Astronaut”. From Germany, the group traveled to Salzburg Austria and took the “Sound of Music” tour. They stopped at Mirabel gardens which was the backdrop for a famous scene
(Do Re Mi). They saw the church that the Von Trapps were married in, the gazebo from the song “I am 16 going on 17” and the monastery where Maria wanted to become a nun. For lunch they all had schnitzel with noodle and hot apple strudel!
“This is not something you often have the chance to participate in and I am very thankful that I was able to help provide these dancers this opportunity to see Europe and perform, which is something they Love to do. Also, having the opportunity to give a little back to the soldiers and families that give so much for our country was amazing!” said Debbie Kennedy, Director of Tutterow Dancers in Largo. “The unique 2 hour workshop was great! The dancers, because of their strong ballet background were able to participate and enjoy the experience of the class.”
