Last year, in Hillsborough and Pinellas County, more than 6000 students were homeless. Many are Unaccompanied Youth, students living without their parent or guardian and having no place to call home. These high school students have found themselves without housing due to circumstances beyond their control. They are not eligible for foster care because they were not taken from their families, rather they end up in this situation due to both parents being incarcerated, a death of a parent, abuse or drug abuse in the home, etc. Students in the SRN program have made a commitment, despite their circumstances, to stay in high school.
Starting Right, Now is one of the only programs in the State that offers a permanent housing solution for youth not in foster care and remains 100% privately funded by the community. Please help us spread the word about the golf tournament. Together, we can end youth homelessness, one child at a time.
