Eudine Herbert, owner of Herbert Consulting Services, has been selected as 2010 Tampa Bay Small Business Jumpstart winner and will receive over $25,000 in pro bono business start-up services.
Herbert, a resident of Spring Hill, will be formally congratulated at an open house reception on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 7 – 9 p.m. at Rigatoni’s Restaurant and Lounge, located at 3437 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, Florida 33609. Herbert will be introduced during a short program, beginning at 8 p.m., by last year’s Tampa Jumpstart winner, Mike Mayo of Golden Vision Photography.
Herbert, who was laid off twice in a three year period, will use the array of pro bono business services gained from Tampa Jumpstart to assist in the growth of her new family and business mediation firm, Herbert Consulting Services. With a passion for solving family issues and working with children and young adults, Herbert is excited about the business possibilities of her firm.
“I am thrilled to be this year’s winner in the Tampa Jumpstart contest,” Herbert said. “I met some wonderful entrepreneurs during the interview process, and I am really looking forward to learning from each one of them.”
Jumpstart contributor Karen Gillman at Intelligent Office has witnessed a surge in the number of her clients who practice mediation. “Traditionally, one of the strongest sectors of our customer base has been attorneys,” Gillman said. “Recently, however, we’ve experienced an uptick in the number of mediators who take advantage of our office space for their mediation sessions, and we hope our newest client, Eudine Herbert, can benefit from some of the relationships we have with others in her field. Intelligent Office looks forward to becoming a vital part of her success.”
Herbert’s professional credentials are exemplified in a Master’s of Education degree from Cambridge College and almost 20 years of experience working with families in crisis through mentoring, intervention and group sessions. When coupled with her passion for youth and family issues, cultivated during her time as a guidance counselor in West Virginia, Herbert Consulting Services will offer the perfect solution for family and business mediation issues.
Mediation is a form of assisted negotiation; a mediator facilitates a discussion between two parties and, acting as a neutral third party, assists them in reconciling their differences through open discussion. Unlike arbitration, recommendations from mediators are typically not legally binding. According to findLaw.com, a resource for legal professionals, the popularity of mediation is growing, especially in Florida, because conflict mediation delivers a success rate of 75 percent.
According to Julie Heidelberg of Heidelberg PR, a contributor to the Tampa Jumpstart program, “The Tampa Jumpstart team enthusiastically embraces Eudine Herbert and her new mediation firm. We understand the mediation market is competitive, and we are anxious to help her differentiate her services through our collective expertise and experience in business success despite tough odds.”
