Tampa Oratorio Singers Perform Mozart Requiem

The Tampa Oratorio Singers perform Mozart's "Requiem" with full orchestra on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 W. San Jose Street, Tampa

The Tampa Oratorio Singers (TOS) will perform Mozart’s “Requiem” with full orchestra on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 W. San Jose Street in Tampa.

Music Director Nancy Callahan selected this Requiem, in part, because, “Mozart is the most enduring and popular of all classical composers. The Requiem is his most famous choral work and represents the ultimate musical development of the time.”

Mozart’s “Requiem” was written just a few weeks before the composer’s death in 1791 and was completed by his composition student, Franz Süssmayr. Audiences will recognize the fiery “Dies Irae” and the mournful “Lachrymosa” from the movie Amadeus. While scholars wrestle with the authorship of the piece, audiences regularly choose Mozart’s one of the most popular pieces of classical choral music.

Music Director Nancy Callahan will conduct the performance, with orchestra and acclaimed soloists Susan Hellman Spatafora, Robyn Rocklein, Adam Bielamowicz, and Todd Donovan.

Tickets are $20 general admission; $10 senior citizens, available at the door, or in advance on the website (
