Nov. 2, 2014 — Miami

Officers responded to a shots-fired call at a house on 122nd Place at around 4 a.m.

Police said that Erick Zambrana, 26, confronted officers with a shotgun and fired. Officers Richard Davis and Roberto Mendoza returned fire, wounding Zambrana. A police news release said that he was also stunned with a Taser.

Zambrana eventually came out of the house and surrendered. Zambrana pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm on an officer and was sentenced to five years probation, according to court records. Read more
