May 2, 2013 — Ormond Beach

An Ormond Beach woman called 911 and told the operator that there was an armed intruder trying to enter her home.

When deputies arrived, they saw only Patricia Marianetti, 61, pointing what appeared to be a black shotgun at them.

Deputies asked the woman to surrender her firearm, but she refused, so Deputy Omar Bello fired a single shot to incapacitate. Read more

When deputies rushed to Marianetti, she was noted as saying, "I just wanted to die." Marianetti had a history of being Baker-Acted, and was Baker-Acted after this incident.

The black object that she pointed at police turned out to be a pressure washer wand. Marianetti also said that she had been drinking wine.

This was the 49th police shooting in Florida in 2013.
