Feb. 20, 2009 — Holiday

Luther Hudson, 38, was suspected of running a drug house and had a history of violence against law enforcement officials.

After an undercover investigation, Detective Clint Cabbage and a SWAT team entered the house with a search warrant. Hudson opened fire from the bedroom, police said, striking Cabbage.

Hudson fired again. Cabbage then fired his shotgun twice, hitting Hudson in the chest.

Hudson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigations by the State Attorney's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement determined that Cabbage was justified in shooting Hudson.

This was the 25th police shooting in Florida in 2009.

Five days earlier, one officer shot one person in Fort Myers .

Five days later, four officers shot one person in Miami .
