May 6, 2009 — Orlando

A tactical unit was patrolling the Metro Place Apartments when officers saw a vehicle run a stop sign.

They tried to stop the driver but he continued on, eventually crashing into a pole.

According to police, both occupants ran from the car. Officer Bryan Fischer said that passenger Dorall Marshall was trying to aim a gun at him and fired, striking the 17-year-old in the hip. Read more

Marshall pleaded no contest to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, marijuana possession, and possession of a firearm by a delinquent and by a minor. He was sentenced to three years.

Fischer, who was cleared, has been involved in at least two other police shootings: the 2008 shooting of Jarvis Singletary, and the fatal 2010 shooting with other officers of Acrifa Soman.

This was the 55th police shooting in Florida in 2009.

The same day, two officers shot one person in Orlando .

Eight days later, three officers shot one person in Winter Haven .
