Your bank's health
Wondering how your bank is doing in these times of financial turmoil? This database of banks in Florida is one way to check — and it shows increasing weakness.
We list the first several banks for you. Type your bank's name in the search box or click on "show all 386 results" below to see more. You can also sort results by star ratings and city.
Bauer Financial, a banking analysis firm, uses information supplied by banks to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to assign the "stars" to banks depending on their financial health. Five stars is a top rating, while zero stars — the lowest rating — indicates significant weakness.
In the first quarter of 2008, eight banks operating in Florida earned zero stars, up from five banks in the fourth quarter of 2007 and no zero-star banks in third quarter of last year. The three banks closest to the Tampa Bay area with zero stars are Bradenton-based First Priority Bank and Freedom Bank (not affiliated with Freedom Bank of America in St. Petersburg), and Ocala National Bank in Ocala.
