The whale was discovered dead in Tampa Bay near Port of Tampa on Sunday and was towed to shore at Fort De Soto Park for the necropsy and burial. Once the tide and weather conditions were right Monday morning, the whale was pulled into a trench on the beach, where scientists could get a closer look.
