Today: Lives with husband and three children in Excelsior, Minn. Works as a columnist for two local publications and does volunteer work. Stayed a Scientology parishioner until 2009.

Shelby LaFreniere

Age: 19
Sea Org: Joined at age 14, in 2004; left three weeks later.
Today: Works for a property management company, plans to attend Normandale Community College in the fall. Lives in Excelsior, Minn. Born into Scientology, she left the church in 2009.
